How POWER’s Business Technology Team Is Building for the Future With AI
At POWER, innovation extends far beyond exterior home remodeling. POWER is also a technology-driven organization, with a Business Technology team responsible for developing and advancing the proprietary software that supports operations across the company’s 28 territories nationwide.
That spirit of innovation was on full display during Nitro Create, a four-day event held September 14–17 that brought together members of POWER’s more than 260-person Business Technology team. With employees working across offices, countries, and remote environments, Create gives the organization dedicated time to step away from everyday responsibilities, collaborate across specialties, and explore what could come next for POWER’s proprietary software, Nitro.
This September marked POWER’s second Nitro Create of 2026. While the spring event focused on “roasting” Nitro, and identifying ways to improve it, this Create targeted artificial intelligence and how it could be used to solve real challenges for employees and homeowners.
“The shared goal of Create was to take AI beyond the hype and actually build things that will solve real business problems,” said Evan Goode, vice president of BT operations and support services.
Over the course of the event, 24 working teams explored concepts designed to enhance everyday experiences across the business. The agenda included content and working sessions, team-building activities, hands-on Community Impact work, a technology fair, and a closing ceremony recognizing teams for collaboration, creativity, and thoughtful use of AI.
“We’ve seen teams challenge assumptions and people from different parts of the organization come together to make a difference,” said Jenny Gray, vice president of application development and infrastructure.
Tech Shaped by the Business

What makes that experimentation valuable is how closely POWER’s technologists work with the business and the people using the tools they create.
During Create’s closing session, POWER Chief Operating Officer Tim Wenhold highlighted three strengths behind that approach: proximity to the problem, trusted relationships, and problem selection.
POWER’s Business Technology team works within the organization it builds for. That gives technologists visibility into how employees work, where challenges exist, and where technology can have a meaningful impact. Instead of approaching a problem from the outside, teams can collaborate directly with stakeholders who experience it every day.
Those relationships also help determine what gets built next. By combining technical expertise with an understanding of the business, teams can focus their experimentation on problems that matter to the people who will ultimately use the solution.
It’s an approach rooted in a simple idea: what POWER isn’t doing with technology today could become what its teams build tomorrow.
Building for Infinity
That same mindset shapes how POWER approaches artificial intelligence and the future of technology careers.
Rather than viewing AI as a replacement for human talent, POWER’s Business Technology organization is exploring how it can expand what employees are capable of doing, help solve new problems, and create opportunities to keep building.
“We are always building for infinity,” Wenhold said. “We will always have jobs here and will always be building and growing this business.”
Create puts that philosophy into practice. Employees are encouraged to experiment, question assumptions, learn emerging technologies, and work alongside people outside of their typical teams.
“One of the most unique and engaging experiences we provide our employees is Nitro Create—the centerpiece of BT culture and POWER’s longest-running technology event,” said Marc Sule, Chief Business Technology Officer at POWER. “Create brings together technologists, business stakeholders, and company leaders from across the organization to collaborate, innovate, and rapidly turn ideas into solutions that improve the business.”
For a technology organization spread across locations and countries, Create also produces something that can be harder to build remotely: community.
“More than a technology event, Nitro Create fosters community, creativity, and a sense of belonging,” Sule said.

At POWER, the goal isn’t to know exactly what technology will look like tomorrow. It’s to create an environment where technologists have the tools, relationships, and freedom to help build it.
