The Power of Our People: How Employees Raise Millions Year-After-Year for Childhood Cancer Research
POWER supports Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), one of the leading funders of childhood cancer research, in a unique way when it comes to corporate philanthropy. Here’s how our biggest asset— our employees — show up in the collective fight against the disease:
Using Our Power for Good

Because we believe our people are our most valuable conduit for change, we give employees voice and choice in where philanthropic funding goes to impact causes they care about — part of our robust POWER For Good initiative.
That means employees are in the drivers seat when it comes to planning, creating, and executing programming in support of ALSF for thousands of participating POWER people.
By doing so, employees are compelled to give back on their own volition — not because of recognition, or external news attention — but because of their pride, the fun they have doing it, the impact they make, and the most simple reason of all: to help kids who are in less fortunate circumstances due to pediatric cancer.
“The dedication and generosity that our people have demonstrated year-after-year is not only deeply inspiring, it has been life-changing for children and families impacted by childhood cancer,” said POWER’s President and Co-Founder, Adam Kaliner. “This sustained commitment is because ALSF has fundamentally shaped who we are as an organization, and who we are as individuals. While we are proud of the progress we’ve pushed forward over the past 14 years, our POWER community will never stop fighting until we find a cure.”
A Record-Breaking Year of Giving

This year, POWER set a goal to raise $2.5 million for the nonprofit — and surpassed it, hitting $2.85 million! How and why would employees donate such large sums of money from their own paychecks to support another organization? It’s because of the infectious culture POWER has so meticulously built over the past 30 years in business. Here’s how we rally our people behind the cause:
- Alex’s Kickoff Event — All employees participate in an in-person event that kickstarts their opportunity to donate to the cause each year, where they learn more about ALSF and hear real-life stories on how pediatric cancer has impacted POWER people. This event is a main driver in how we raised $2.25 million in the first 24 hours of giving alone!
- Vacation Auction — new this year, POWER hosted a company-wide auction with a desirable vacation package. Hundreds of employees entered to win, raising thousands that contributed to the overall donation to ALSF.
- Alex’s Hero Families — Each POWER territory is paired with an Alex’s Hero family, supporting them locally 365 days a year and bringing them into our community. This allows for deep connections to be formed, with our people showing up for hero families at milestone life events, holidays, and more.
- Getting Involved on a Local Level — Each office hosts lemonade stands, volunteers at hospitals, and organizes auctions to raise funds.
- Swag to Brag — POWER creates one-of-a-kind swag for employees to rock on the job, highlighting ALSF.
Power the Cure

Our employees are committed to ALSF for the long haul. Over the lifetime of the partnership, over $12.71 million has been raised to help find long-term cures and treatments for pediatric cancer. To mark an unwavering commitment, POWER created the “Power The Cure” fund at Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
Donations within this fund will help support various ALSF innovative therapy grants that take a novel and promising approach to finding cures for childhood cancers. With this fund, hundreds of children – many with their last chance of survival – will be able to enroll in the most innovative and targeted treatments available.
“POWER employees continue to go above and beyond each year in their support of ALSF. Their dedication and commitment shines through the donations they make, the awareness they bring to the cause and the support they show families,” said Liz Scott, Co-Executive Director of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation & Alex’s Mom. “We are so grateful to have a partner like POWER that exemplifies a company truly committed to making a difference for children fighting cancer.”
