After taking a group of veterans to volunteer at Valor Service Dogs, David Lopez knew he wanted to do more. His grant helped the nonprofit provide service dogs to Veterans-in-need and first responders across the country.
Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte
Matt Worley’s lifelong connection to the down syndrome community inspired his nomination of the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte. Through his support, 25 children received full scholarships to attend Camp Horizon, a four-day sleepaway camp where they could embrace their authentic selves in a safe and supportive environment.
SEAMAAC
JP Custodio nominating SEAMAAC was a way to honor the organization that once supported his own family and neighbors as new immigrants. His nomination provided funding to maintain three community gardens with 111 plots that impact 110 immigrant and refugee families from 10 ethnic groups, ensuring they can grow fresh produce and culturally meaningful foods. The grant also supported new benches, tool storage, and 25 trellises to encourage the growth of vining plants.
